The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA) on October 4, 2019 organized the first Preparatory meeting for Liberian delegates to the 25th edition of the Conference of Parties (COP 25) - United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) expected to convene in Santiago, Chile from December 2-13, 2019.

The meeting provided an update to participants on the UNFCCC Climate Change negotiation processes, the status of Liberia's Nationally Determined Contributions( NDC), update on COP 24, the overview of Liberia's proposed side event at COP 25 regarding REDD+ interventions in the country, the enhanced transparency framework as part of Article 13 of the Paris Agreement through the implementation of the Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency( CBIT), the status of the Liberia's National Adaptation Plans( NAPs), Gender and Climate Change, and logistical details surrounding COP 25 participation.

This is a step forward by the Government of Liberia through the EPA to get Liberia's delegation fully prepared to join negotiations as part of the Least Developed Countries (LCDs) Group, African Group, and the Group of 77 and China at COP 25 this year.
