This Policy Assessment Review of the National Environmental Policy of Liberia (2002) specifically focuses on the Waste Sector of Liberia. Supported by the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT), with technical guidance from the Environment Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA), this report aims to provide policy direction for a future Liberia waste policy – which is currently non-existent. This report provides policy makers with a keen insight into the challenges of the waste sector and fits well with key recommendations from key stakeholders on how to resolve the perennial issues that plague the sector. The report also provides policy makers with insights into how the waste sector intersects with Liberia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and some of the country’s key development papers crafted to reduce poverty and to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
