EPA Executive Director Leads Inspection of Renovation Work at New Headquarters

(Monrovia, Liberia, January 8, 2025)– In a major step towards enhancing the operational capacity of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel King Urey Yarkpawolo led the senior management team and staff to inspect the ongoing renovation work at the agency’s new headquarters. The facility, located at Mamba Point Bright Building 302-A, Old CID Road, is undergoing extensive renovations to meet the EPA’s growing needs.

Dr. Urey Yarkpawolo described the renovations as a critical investment in the future of environmental governance in Liberia. “The modernization of this facility underscores our commitment to creating a conducive environment for efficient operations and strategic engagements with stakeholders. This is more than just an office space; it is a hub for innovation and collaboration as we tackle Liberia’s pressing environmental challenges,” Dr. Urey Yarkpawolo during the inspection.

The renovation project aims to transform the building into a state-of-the-art headquarters equipped with modern facilities, including spacious offices, conference rooms, research units, and public engagement spaces. The goal is to centralize the agency’s operations and create an environment that reflects its status as a leading institution in environmental protection.

During the inspection, the senior management team toured key areas of the building, assessing the progress made and identifying areas that require further attention. Dr. Urey Yarkpawolo commended the contractors for their dedication and adherence to timelines while emphasizing the importance of quality work.

Staff members expressed excitement about the improvements, noting how the new facility will boost morale and productivity. “Having a well-equipped headquarters will not only enhance our work environment but also improve our ability to serve the Liberian people effectively,” said a technical division staff member.

The renovations are expected to be completed within the coming months, after which the EPA will officially move into its new headquarters. This initiative aligns with the agency’s broader efforts to strengthen its capacity and foster a sustainable and resilient environment for all Liberians.

Dr. Urey Yarkpawolo assured the public that the agency remains committed to its mission.

“The EPA is dedicated to ensuring that this new headquarters becomes a beacon of hope for environmental protection in Liberia. It will stand as a testament to our resolve to build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all,” he added.
