Monrovia, Liberia – January 11, 2025, – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia has honored the life and contributions of their late colleague, Odell Juah Nimene, affectionately known as “Champ.” Odell’s passing has profoundly saddened her coworkers and friends, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and dedication.
Arthur R.M. Becker, Manager of the Department of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), delivered a heartfelt tribute on behalf of the EPA, describing Odell as a cheerful and committed staff member who consistently brought positive energy to the workplace.
Odell joined the EPA over two years ago, starting as an intern before securing a full-time position. From her first day, she stood out as a hardworking and dependable team member, quickly becoming an integral part of the MEA Department. Her responsibilities included arranging travel, organizing meetings, and ensuring smooth operations during international missions.
One of her proudest achievements occurred in 2022 when she represented the EPA at an international training in Nairobi, Kenya. “Her dedication and enthusiasm were evident in everything she did,” Becker remarked.
Odell was more than just a coworker; she was a friend, a sister, and a source of joy to those around her. Known for her warm smile and kind words, she had a remarkable ability to brighten even the toughest days. Her colleagues remember her for regularly checking in on others, offering support, and uplifting their spirits.
Becker shared fond memories of Odell during the farewell ceremony held on December 20, 2024, before the holiday season. “Her smile and gentle voice made that day unforgettable,” he recounted.
Odell’s life serves as a reminder of the significance of kindness, teamwork, and maintaining a positive outlook in challenging times. She inspired her team to embrace challenges and strive for excellence.
“As we bid farewell, we promise to uphold the values she instilled in us—compassion, dedication, and teamwork,” Becker added.
In a poignant moment, a wreath was placed on Odell’s casket, stating, “Rest in peace, dear Odell, our Juah, our Champ. You will be profoundly missed, but your spirit will remain with us forever.”
The EPA extends its deepest condolences to Odell’s family and friends during this difficult period. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
