Section 77 on the protection of forest sets that guidelines issued by the Agency shall take into account the fact that forest land acts as sink for greenhouse gases. Part VII, section 83, 1.g) charges the Agency to measure the value of unexploited natural resources in terms of watershed protection an influences on climate and other potential genetic value. Section 89 insists on the role of rain forests as a sink for greenhouse gases.
Guidelines for the Importation, Handling, Transportation and Storage of Chemicals In Liberia
As part of its mandate under Part II Section 6 of the Environmental Protection Agency Act and Part IV Section 49 of the Environmental Protection and Management Law of Liberia, the EPA formulates these guidelines for subsequent promulgation. These guidelines are intended for person(s), companies and other stake holders involved in any act of importation, handling, transportation and storage of chemicals (agrochemicals, explosives, laboratory, industrial chemicals, petrochemicals and additives) into Liberia. These guidelines are for obtaining license to import, handle, transport and store chemicals in Liberia. These guidelines prohibits the importation of chemicals restricted under international conventions to which Liberia is a state party.
Environmental & Social Impact Assessment Procedural Guidelines 2017
The Environmental Protection and Management Law (EPML) provides for a wide ranging responsibility for environmental management by the EPA. One of the most prominent mandates is the need for development of administrative procedures for the preparation of ESIA to ensure effective environmental governance. The required administrative procedures and how they are arranged to reflect the intent of the law is the subject of the following guidelines. These Guidelines will be reviewed periodically and updated when necessary.
