Monrovia, Liberia – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia, under the leadership of Executive Director Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo, convened a high-level coordinating meeting with line ministries and agencies to advance the implementation of Pillar Five of the Government of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
The meeting served as an important platform for strengthening collaboration among government institutions, promoting policy coordination, and aligning national efforts to achieve the environmental and climate resilience objectives outlined in Pillar Five of the ARREST Agenda.

Speaking during the meeting, Executive Director Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo emphasized that environmental sustainability is a shared national responsibility that requires the collective commitment of all ministries, agencies, development partners, and stakeholders. He noted that effective coordination is essential to addressing pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity conservation, sustainable natural resource management, pollution control, and environmental governance.

“The success of Pillar Five depends on strong partnerships and coordinated action across government institutions. Together, we can build a cleaner, healthier, and more climate-resilient Liberia for present and future generations,” Executive Director Yarkpawolo stated.

Participants engaged in discussions on institutional roles, implementation strategies, priority interventions, and mechanisms for monitoring progress under the ARREST Agenda. The meeting also highlighted the importance of information sharing, policy harmonization, and mobilizing resources to achieve the government’s environmental and sustainable development goals.

Representatives from various line ministries and agencies reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the EPA in implementing programs and initiatives that contribute to environmental protection and sustainable national development.
The coordinating meeting marks another significant step by the EPA in fostering whole-of-government collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of the environmental priorities under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
