Mr. Anthony Kollie, Deputy Director for Administration at the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia, is leading Liberia’s delegation at the 38th Meeting of the Parties (MOP 38), taking place in Kigali, Rwanda.
A key priority of the meeting is agreeing on replenishment of the Multilateral Fund for 2027–2029, which supports developing countries in phasing out hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and phasing down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
The meeting also marks the 10th anniversary of the Kigali Amendment, a landmark commitment to reduce climate-warming HFCs.
Delegates are also discussing HFC-23 emissions, energy-efficient cooling and sustainable cold chains, refrigerant management, atmospheric monitoring, compliance, and other matters under the Montreal Protocol.
Through international cooperation and continued support for developing countries, the Montreal Protocol remains vital to protecting the ozone layer and addressing climate change.
